EXPLORING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER

Letter By Rev. Leslie Jackson

Dear St. Peter Family,

The time has come for us to dream boldly.

We are living in a moment of profound cultural and spiritual shift. Across the country, fewer people are committed to traditional weekly worship in the ways they once were — but that doesn’t mean people aren’t searching. They are longing for connection, purpose, justice, and meaning.

And that’s why this moment is not about returning to what was — it’s about reimagining what can be.

At St. Peter, we have always said, “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.” Now, we must ask: What kind of church must we become to live that out more fully in the future?

We believe the Spirit is calling us to build a new St. Peter — one rooted in our values, responsive to the times, and shaped by the people who are part of it. And because we are a congregational church, that vision does not belong to the pastors or the board alone. It belongs to all of us.

That’s why we’re inviting you to participate in a special survey called “Exploring Our Future Together.” It’s rooted in six powerful themes and invites you to reflect deeply on what the church of the future could look like.

Your responses will shape how we design our future leadership council, what kinds of programming we prioritize, and how we gather and worship as a community.

So please — dream with us. Share your insights. Even if your idea sounds absolutely bonkers, we want to hear it. The new St. Peter will be built with your voice, your heart, and your hope.

With gratitude and anticipation,
Rev. Leslie Jackson
Senior Pastor, St. Peter United
